Dubrovnik

Spent the last two days exploring Dubrovnik - yes the GoT Dubrovnik 🙄. This was the first place in Croatia that was actually filled with tourists. We managed to score an Airbnb right in Old Town. While we walked plenty in all our destinations, my feet are legit tired today. Dubrovnik absolutely loves it's stairs.
We started yesterday by taking a short boat ride to Lokrum Island. This was a gorgeous island just 15 mins away where we felt we were buried in nature. There were peacocks everywhere (really). Along with a gorgeous botanical garden, you could hike through the island for beautiful views. Before we knew it, 3 hours had passed.

And, and, and... It held the Iron Throne in the Benedictan monastery. I have to admit, Harneet pulled off this pose far better than me!

After this fabulous exploration, we came back to old town and began following this walking tour. Everything that needed a ticket for, we saved for the next day - since we planned to pick up a 24 hour Dubrovnik pass. Well tired after visiting all the churches, taking Easter pictures and walking around the town, we checked in for the night to rest before our ambitious next long day. Check out the bell tower with the green men (Baro and Maro) ringing the bell. We woke up the next day to the sweet sounds of the bells - extra pretty for Easter morning.

Woke up bright and early today to walk the great walls of Dubrovnik. We caught the most beautiful views as we walked around and up and down and up and down.

After all the walking (my watch said I climbed 71 floors and finished 23,616 steps), I had a pigeon poop on my head (for luck you know 😂).
On the food side, we decided to find more budget options. Croatia is legit expensive and the dollar hurts right now. Tried out some local burek from Holy Burek and found vegan and smoothie places to fill our tummies with some healthiness. Also, found a cute cafe called Coffee Break.

And yes, regional desserts. Croatian desserts aren't sweet which was a pleasant relief for me, but delicious nonetheless. Here is a picture of madjarica and carob cake (Kolac og Rogaca).

Tomorrow we head to Plitvice for the last stretch of our trip. Talk soon!
